The second edition of Orpheus Records features some of the most beautiful music ever: Edward Artemiev's original electronic soundrack of Tarkovsky's legendary Science Ficion movie SOLARIS (1972). The music is composed entirely on the ancient Russian ANS Synthesizer and simply gorgeous. Its rough beauty is a perfect match of Tarkovsky's sparse, intense images. Despite the relative success and fame of the movie the soundtrack is - officially - still unavailable. What you get here is the CD bootleg release on the Japanese Toei Music label, which sometimes pops up on Ebay. Unless you're into painfully mellow new age easy listening, avoid the re-recorded release on Electroshock, labelled Solaris-The Mirror-Stalker.

Hi Adam 11
I found you through that Russian blog that had this & the Mirror/Stalker dl with the broken #16. How did you unpack the rest of that rar? My expanders both shut down when they hit the broken track. Maybe you could upload the intact version to your blog? I'll check back.
Thanks for the Music for Supermarkets too BTW, never thought I'd get to hear that!
does look ravishing.. one of my favourite sci-fi movies.. hey, clooney and soderbergh did a good job.. the original's astonishing, the dot planet's surface at the end, a true sargasso sea, unforgettable.. movie's a religious mosaic, sorry for the pomposity.. plus, anything plesio's giving kudos to, i'm there.. zenmaster
wowowowowowowowowowowowowowowowowowowowowowowowowowowow
sheesh. thanks. i have the new-agey reissue/remix/hack job you mention so am looking forward to hearing this one...
Thank You for this share. Thanks to Mr Artemiev for the music! And BIG thanks to Mr Stanislaw Lem- the author of Solaris novel, writer-philosopher-visionary that Polish land gave to the humankind (He passed away in May 2006 at the age of 85).
Many, many thanks for this wonderful share. Jumped out of my seat when I spotted it! Wonderful blog overall, too - pure delights everywhere. Cheers.
Nothing indicates that Japanese Tarkovsky soundtrack series are bootlegs. Toei is the name of a big Japanese film studio who probably have rights to the films. Unless of course what is showing up on ebay is a counterfit of the Toei disc. None the less the mid 1990s CD series in question has been out of print for a few years.
Ya done it again...can't thank you enough!!
